Presiding over a review meeting with top district officials via video conferencing, he asked the DMs and SPs to personally visit spots of law and order problem and take strict measures to bring the situation under control.
The district officials should not leave sensitive issues like law and order related problems to junior officials to deal with, he said.
The senior district officials should be sensitive in particular to communal problems and must visit the spot of occurrence of such incidents to monitor the situation and effectively deal with these problems, Kumar said.
Pointing out that the land dispute was a major cause of law and order problems in rural areas, he directed the top district officials to identity such contentious problems and ensure their resolution as per law.
With the hardened criminals masterminding crimes from prison cells, Kumar directed the district authorities to check their activities regularly.
He also reviewed the status of the crime cases, speedy trial of the criminals and appeal in such cases.
