Nitish govt makes handsome allotment under Indira Awas yojna

The Bihar government has cleared construction of 2,29,931 houses under Indira Awas Yojna against the target of 2,33,546, which is 98.45 per cent, state Legislative Council was informed today.

Till February 25, the state government received only first installment of the money under Indira Awas Yojna in June last year for only 29 out of a total of 38 districts of the state, Rural Development minister Shrawan Kumar said in reply to a question of BJP Krishna Kumar Singh in Legislative Council.

The minister said that the allotment work for construction of houses under the programme could not be undertaken due to election code in the state during poll.
 

Kumar said that for the nine districts which have not received central fund under the scheme were also provided house from the available fund given by the centre.

Against a target of 53,961 houses in such nine districts, 50,552 house proposal has been given green signal, he added.

The minister said that orders have been released for transfer of fund transfer money to 81.23 per cent of beneficiaries under Indira Awas yojna.
