"I had a fruitful meeting with the Prime Minister yesterday during which he assured about removal of obstacles in the way of allotment of coal block for Barauni thermal power plant," Kumar told reporters at the Jai Prakash International Airport here upon arrival from New Delhi.

The removal of obstacles was key to environment clearance for coal block from Jharkhand's Urma hills for power production at Barauni thermal power plant which was undergoing renovation and maintenance at two units of 2x110MW each, he said.

The state government has set a deadline of mid 2014 to start power generation from Barauni thermal power plant, the Chief Minister said.

Kumar said that he also apprised the Prime Minister about his Pakistan visit earlier this month.

He said that the issues like the proposal for direct cash transfer to the students in the new uniform scheme under the Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) too figured during meeting with the Prime Minister during which he apprised Singh that the state government has been giving cash to the students.

The Chief Minister said that he has also submitted a letter to the Prime Minister about consideration of special category status demand of Bihar so that the state could attain the national average in terms of development and apprised him about the pledge taken by the people at the Adhikar Rally in Patna last month.
