Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today reviewed the performance of Cooperative department and emphasised on making PACs (Primary Agricultural Credit Societies) viable by inspiring at least one member from each family join the body at grassroot level.
Kumar launched the review of all state departments from today to give fresh direction to streamline their functioning under the new government.
While reviewing the Cooperative department with minister Alok Mehta, Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh and others, the CM emphasised to inspire at least one member from each family to become member of PACs, an official statement said here.

In the election in 2014, out of 8,463 elected members of PACs in Bihar, 42 per cent were women as a result of reservation provided to them.
In order to make PACs viable, the CM stressed on timely election of the organisations and their inclusive membership.
Kumar appreciated online/Mobile App monitoring used by PACs in ongoing paddy procurement in the state.
He stressed on establishment of a model PACS in every sub division.
