Moved by plight of the two abandoned sisters, duped by their mother after pocketing Rs two lakh help given by superstar Amitabh Bachchan, Nitish Kumar today ordered district administration to provide all necessary assistance to the hapless girls.
The two deserted sisters--Rimjhim (12) and Anjali (11)-- with the Principal of the Patna school Avineshwar Prasad Singh, where they are studying and staying, visited the CM at "Janata Ke Darbar me Mukhya Mantri" programme seeking help.
On prayer of help for the sisters, the elder of whom is suffering from epilepsy, the CM ordered Patna District Magistrate N Shrawan Kumar to look into the issue and provide all necessary assistance to them.
"Its painful to hear such tragedies.I have instructed Patna District Magistrate to provide all assistance to them," Kumar told reporters.
Giving a false residential address of Muzaffarpur, Shikha Pandey had admitted the two girls to Shanti Niketan School in the state capital in October, 2006, and did not return.
After the woes of the sisters were highlighted in the media, Amitabh Bachchan offered Rs two lakh to them and invited them to the foundation stone laying function of a girls college at Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh in the name of her daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai on January 27, 2008.
Lured by the cash,the mother reappeared and accompanied the sisters to Barabanki where Big B gave her a cheque of Rs two lakh for upkeep of children. But, soon after pocketing money she vanished again leaving the girls to uncertain future.
Patna DM told PTI that he has instructed District Education officer to look into educational needs of the sisters and civil surgeon to assist them medically.
"I have also asked women help line to be in touch with the girls and provide all help," he said.
