Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today reviewed the functioning of the Urban Development and Housing department and issued necessary instructions to officials for improving infrastructure related to severage treatment and monitoring for approval of building maps in Bihar towns.
He also directed for laying drainage facilities and maintenance of eco parks in towns and inter-state bus terminals, besides development of model townships to ensure de-congestion of population from main cities and towns.
Kumar stressed for setting up an urban engineering organization to carry out engineering works related to urban development and housing department.

The Principal Secretary (Urban Development and Housing) Amrit Lal Meena said that the Chief Minister also instructed the department to step up infrastructure for providing piped water supply to all houses and stepping up works for construction of toilets.
At present, four lakh houses in cities and towns of Bihar get piped water and permission has been granted to provide the same to six lakh houses over the next five years, Meena said.
