Nitish sends Rs 5 crore for TN flood victims

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today sent Rs five crore to Tamil Nadu for relief and rehabilitation work in the southern state battered by incessant rains.

Kumar sent a cheque of Rs five crore to his Tamil Nadu counterpart Jayalalithaa from the Chief Minister's Relief fund for relief and rehabilitation of victims of the rains, an official statement said here.

Kumar expressed deep sorrow over loss of lives and property due to the rains in Tamil Nadu.

"People of Bihar is with citizens of TN in this hour of sorrow," he said adding Bihar has been battling natural calamity like flood every year.
 

In a letter to Jayalalithaa, the Bihar CM expressed confidence that the southern state would overcome the grief in her able guidance and leadership.

Kumar had yesterday attributed the natural disaster in TN to climate change.

His deputy Tejaswi Yadav also came out in support of the victims of Tamil Nadu rains and announced to donate his first month's salary for relief work in the southern state.
