Official sources said, during a telephonic conversation, the chief minister informed Jena about scarcity of urea in Bihar and urged him to intervene to ensure its availability for distribution among farmers.
The union minister assured Kumar that he would look into the matter and ensure supply of urea as per the need of the farmers of Bihar.
There has been a shortage of 1.96 lakh metric tonne of urea in the state in July/August this year due to supply of 5.94 lakh metric tonnes as against requirement of 7.90 lakh metric tonnes, sources said.
The chief minister has directed officials to ensure allotment and distribution of urea throughout the state keeping in view coverage of crops and ensure supervision of supply of the material so that farmers do not face any difficulty in procuring the same.
