Emphasizing on disaster management training to students, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today announced that July 4 will be observed as School Safety Awareness Day in Bihar.
Bihar is the first state to launch the 'school safety awareness fortnight' programme, he said inaugurating school safety awareness fortnight attended by thousands of students at Gandhi Maidan.
"There is need to make students aware of management of natural disasters in schools as well as at their houses for which adequate training must be imparted to them in their schools itself," he said.

However, such an awareness campaign could be all the more successful if the students were roped as they not only learn quickly, but also remember precautionary and preventive measures throughout their life. If trained properly, they can keep themselves safe and also come to the rescue of their family members and others.
Kumar said it has been decided that the awareness programme would be launched among two crore students of government and public schools at the block, district and state levels for which 1.15 lakh teachers have been trained as master trainers.
