Nitish takes stock of agricultural schemes

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today took stock of progress related to Bihar's agricultural roadmap and arrangements regarding distributing subsidised diesel in the event of drought-like situation.

He took stock of the rainfall in the state this year and sowing of kharif crops and directed officials to prepare a plan for proper use of sewage water for irrigation to boost agriculture.

Bihar holds the third position in the country in terms of production of vegetables and if care is taken could jump to second position, he said.

Agriculture Minister Ram Vichar Rai, Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh and Principal Secretary Agriculture Sudhir Kumar were present among other in the meeting, an official statement said.
