National Judicial Appointments Commission (NJAC) bill, which was recently passed by both houses of Parliament, was tabled for rectification and approval in Rajasthan Legislative Assembly today.

Speaker Kailash Meghawal called upon the secretary to read out the notice and letter received from the Parliament.

The assembly secretary later tabled the NJAC bill in the house for its rectification and approval.

The house would assemble on September 17 after a recess of one day tomorrow.

Chief Whip Kalulal Gurjar said the bill would be taken up for discussion and passed as per the assembly norms and procedures.

The Business Advisory Committee would decide the listing of NJAC bill in its meeting on September 17, the CW said.

The Constitution Amendment Bill requires endorsement of at least 50 per cent of state assemblies, and Rajasthan is likely to become the first state to take it up in the house.

The Bill provides for the procedure to be followed by the NJAC for recommending persons for appointment as Chief Justice of India and other Judges of the Supreme Court (SC), and Chief Justice and other Judges of High Courts (HC).
