With the damaged tracks being restored, toy train service from New Jalpaiguri (NJP) to Ghayabari has resumed after a gap of almost four years.

However, the toy train's service to Darjeeling was yet to be restored, a Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) official said here today.

The toy train service from NJP to Ghayabari, which was non-operational since 2010 after tracks were badly damaged at different places in the Kurseong region due to frequent landslides, resumed on Sunday.

The affected site was reconstructed and new railway tracks were laid following which the route was thrown open to public on Sunday.

The reconstruction work of damaged routes between Ghayabari to Mahanadi and further upwards to Kurseong were on and authorities hope it would soon be completed and the toy train service would resume soon.
