Public sector Neyveli Lignite Corporation has been allocated a coal block by the Jharkhand government and it has requested the Coal Ministry for more blocks, a top official said today.
"On the coal front, we have been allotted a coal block in Jharkand and we have requested Ministry of Coal to allot us further blocks, which will fuel our capacity additions in coal-based generation," Neyveli Lignite Corporation Chairman and Managing Director Sarat Kumar Acharya said.
Listing out the firm's future plans, he said NLC plans to have 19,000-MW capacity by 2025 and projects to generate 6,000 MW from coal and 2,500 MW from lignite were already underway.

Stating that the company faced a "temporary setback" due to the unprecedented rainfall in November-December last year, he said he was glad that NLC is on the path to quick recovery.
Last year, the company had commissioned its first 10 MW solar energy project at Neyveli, he said.
