NLFT second-in-command surrenders

The second-in-command of outlawed insurgent outfit National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT), Pandit Debbarma, surrendered before the police today.

Debbarma surrendered at Bhandarima, a hill-top tribal hamlet on Indo-Bangladesh border, along with his wife Nandarani and a bodyguard, SP, Police Control, Uttam Bhaumick said.

"They fled from Zufui camp in Chittagong Hill Tract (CHT) in Bangladesh and surrendered before the police. They did not deposit any arm or ammunition," Bhaumick told PTI.

Police attribute it as a major success in weakening the insurgent group.
