Continuing its drive against encroachment in the city for the second day, the civic body today pulled down eight religious structures in Satpur division, a release said.

The action was taken based on the directives by the Bombay High Court and the state government. As part of the drive, religious structures illegally built on the roads after 2009, were removed today.

The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has already served notices to 84 such religious places and asked people to pull down the structures on their own, an official release said.

"The drive began on Tuesday in city's Ambad locality, where four illegal structures were pulled down, owner of the places removed idols of the deity ceremonially and shifted elsewhere, following which the squad demolished the structures," the release added.
