Former Maharashtra minister Chhagan Bhujbal today urged the Nashik Municipal Corporation to maintain the development works done by the state government during this year's Kumbh Mela, including the construction of seven new ghats.
In a statement issued here today, the senior NCP leader said, "By spending crores of rupees, the Maharashtra Water Resources Department has constructed seven new ghats along the Godavari river, including the Talkuteshwar bridge to Kannamwar bridge, Laxminarayan temple to Kapila sangam, Takali sangam ghat, Dasak Panchak ghat."
The NMC should take over the these ghats the state government and maintain them properly, he said.
The former state PWD Minister also asked the civic body to provide all basic amenities like water supply, street-light, drainage, toilets and roads on permanent basis on the Sadhu Gram land, owned by it and use this place for various exhibitions, functions till the next Kumbh Mela to avoid encroachment on the land.
