Press Trust of India Nagpur
Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has snapped water supply to the sprawling Empress City here due to non-payment of water tariff to the tune of Rs 16.50 crore.

Empress City is a realty project of Tayal Group firm KSL Industries.

The civic body's action came after an RTI query exposed the details of the pending water bills.

The Rs 16.50-crore arrears amount to a whopping 19% of the annual revenue of the NMC's Water Works Department, civic sources said.

NMC spokesman today confirmed that the water supply to the project was disconnected last week.

KSL Industries officials were not available for comment.
