"We urge Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to announce the pending installment of seven per cent dearness allowance due from July 2012 in favour of both central and state government employees at the next Cabinet meeting," NMC president Subash Shastri said while addressing a rally of NMC workers here.
The salaried class was facing a lot of economic hardship due to high inflation and price rise and the release of DA would be a genuine measure to provide some relief to them, he said.
Emphasising on formulation of a National Pay Policy throughout the country, Shastri demanded setting up of a new Pay Commission which would cover both central and state government employees.
He also demanded the merger of 50 per cent DA of state government employees into their basic pay and pension at the earliest as was recommended by Fourth Pay Commission in its report accepted by the government in 1986.
Enhancement in the wages of daily wage workers to Rs 300 per day, regularisation of the services of daily rated workers, grant of disturbed areas allowance on the pattern of north eastern states to all government employees, implementation of all central labour laws and declaring Jammu and Srinagar cities as B-1 City were other demands highlighted in the rally.
