Ruling BJP government today said in the Rajasthan Assembly that the admission to students in ITI centres is being done based on reservation to minorities and other castes but not on "religious basis".

"There is no admission in ITIs on religious basis", Education Minister K C Saraf told the House during Zero Hour when some of the BJP MLAs tried to raise the issue.

Any poor student of minority community and upper class would get admission, he added.

Previous Ashok Gehlot government had opened ITIs in Kho-Nagorian, Makrana, Chattargarh, Sangaria, Baap, and Padampura areas.
