Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala today there was no assault on the convicts in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case at the Viyyur central jail here.
Talking to reporters, he said several CPI(M) leaders, including politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and former speaker K Radhakrishan had called on the murder convicts in the prison recently and they had "instigated" the relatives of the convicts to stage hunger strike and fast demanding action against prison officials who had allegedly "assaulted" the convicts.
Chennithala said no attacks had taken place in the jail and the government would not allow any violation of human rights activity in any prisons.

To a query, the minister said further steps in the demand of the slain Chandrasekharan's widow K K Rema for a CBI inquiry to reveal the conspiracy angle, would be taken after submitting the Special Investigation team report in this regard.
He said the letter of the opposition leader V S Achuthanandan supporting Rema's demand for a CBI probe forwarded to the SIT as it was of serious allegation.
