The Madras High Court today declined to grant bail to a man involved in morphing a picture of a woman co-worker at a Kuwait-based travel company and circulating them.
Justice P Devadass declined to grant bail to Mohammed Azar Sharif (28), facing charges of morphing and circulating pictures of a girl co-worker at the firm in Kuwait, where the woman, hailing from Mumbai, was also employed.
After a prolonged friendship, he proposed marriage, which she declined, saying she only valued their friendship and never intended to marry him. But Sharif continued to persist in his efforts and allegedly started harassing her.
The employer, who came to know of this, dismissed Sharif from service, resulting in cancellation of his visa. He came back to India immediately.
Sharif, who resides in Triplicane area here, morphed her pictures and sent them to his colleagues. The company then filed a complaint against him at the Cyber cell Branch of City Police here.
Police inquiries showed Sharif has created fake e-mail accounts and sent her pictures to Kuwait from an e-mail centre in Chennai to tarnish her image.
He was arrested under various offences of Information and Technology (Amendment) Act.
Justice P Devadass, before whom Sharif's bail application came up, declined to grant it, saying he had no business to intrude into the privacy of others.
The judge said the girl was mentally affected by Sharif's activity. "An unwilling girl cannot be forced. An unwilling horse can never be made to drink water willingly. The motive and the way the petitioner adopted to secure her consent, his revengeful attitude towards the girl now gave his unpleasant journey, namely from Kuwait to Triplicane from Triplicane to Puzhal (Jail)," he said.
