No Bru comes for identification on Day 3

As was the case for the last two days, No Bru appeared before the Mizoram government officials for identification as bona fide resident of the state at the Asapara relief camp in North Tripura today, a senior official said today.

Any Bru person from the camp who will be identified as bona fide resident of Mizoram would be repatriated to the state from Monday.

Identification process would continue till tomorrow in the Asapara relief camp which housed 895 Bru families, Additional Secretary for Home, Lalbiakzama, said.

Repatriation process of around 3,455 Bru families from the six relief camps in North Tripura commenced from June two in accordance with the Road Map - IV for Bru Repatriation which was scheduled to continue till September four.
 

Not a single Bru has come forward for identification and to be repatriated since then even after the officials conducted verification at three camps - Kaskau, Khakchangpara and Hamsapara.

In accordance with the Road Map -IV, around 3,455 Bru families were proposed to be repatriated within six months as per instructions from the Supreme Court.
