Ruling Congress in Uttarakhand, which suffered a rout at the hands of BJP in the Lok Sabha polls, today said the state not getting any representation in Narendra Modi's Cabinet was an insult to the people's mandate.

"People of Uttarakhand gave an unprecedented mandate to BJP in these elections where it won all the five seats. However, non-representation of the state in Modi's Cabinet shows the party's failure to honour the massive mandate it got," PCC spokesman Dhirendra Pratap said here.

"Denial of a Cabinet berth to BJP MPs elected from the state, including three former CMs, shows that they have failed to prove their utility," the Congress leader said.

Terming it as "unfortunate", he said people of Uttarakhand felt "cheated" by a party in which they reposed all their faith.

Asking the Prime Minister to realise this "grave error" before it is too late, Pratap said people could avenge their "humiliation" in the panchayat elections to be held next month.
