A no-confidence motion was today submitted against the "prime minister" of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, marking a new phase in jockeying between political parties for control of the region.

Six ministers and three advisors resigned after the no-confidence motion was submitted against "prime minister" Chaudhry Abdul Majeed by Pakistan People's Party legislators Mohammad Hussain and Majid Khan.

Majeed, who also belongs to the PPP, is a nominee of President Asif Ali Zardari.

The ministers and advisors who resigned belong to the PPP but sources said they would vote in favour of the no-confidence motion.

Majeed was sworn-in in 2011.
