No damage to Dulhasti project in earthquake

The earthquake which jolted Kishtwar and Doda districts of Jammu and Kashmir has caused no damage to NHPC's Dulhasti hydro-electric power project.

"There is no damage caused to the powerhouse or dam of the Dulhasti power project due to earthquake," a senior official of the project said today.

He, however, said the project building suffered minor damages. The 390-MW Dulhasti Hydro Electric Power Project has underground infrastructure of power house and two water tunnels beneath Kishtwar town, which was jolted by two quakes of 5.4 and 5.2 magnitude on Richter scale on August 2 and 3.

Several buildings were damaged and two persons, including a jawan of the Shashatra Seema Bal, were injured when the earthquake of moderate intensity shook the two districts of Jammu and Kashmir yesterday.
