Kerala government today said no decision had been taken to make August 2, a Sunday,working day for government offices and educational institutions as a mark of respect to former President APJ Abdul Kalam following the state Chief Secretary's posts in social networking sites in this regard led to confusion.
The government's clarification came in the backdrop of Chief Secretary Jiji Thomson's tweet and post on his official Facebook page Chief secretary GoK stating 'As a mark of respect to Shri@APJAbdulkalam, Sunday will be a working day for all #Kerala government offices and educational institutions'.
However, a few hours later he again posted and tweeted 'Pl wait for an updated decision on my earlier tweet'.

However, sources in the office told PTI, "the government's stand is that if any of the department employees volunteers to work on sunday as a mark of respect to Dr Kalam, they are free do so".
Employees of the Kerala Women's Development Corporation and Palakkad Municipal office have decided to work on next sunday, as a mark of respect to Dr Kalam.
