In a scathing attack on Congress, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari today dubbed former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan as a "paralytic" CM under whose tenure development of the state, including that of Mihan project was stalled.

"No development took place in the state under the chief ministership of Chavan even the ambitious Multi modal international hub airport at Nagpur (Mihan) project in Nagpur could not take off.

"He was a paralytic CM. It was only after the BJP government came to power in 2014 that steps were taken to ensure that companies come here (in Mihan)," said Gadkari addressing an election meeting here.

Coming down heavily on corruption in Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) and Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), Gadkari said all those officials who indulge in corrupt practices should be "thrashed for their acts."

At another public meeting near Awasthi square in the evening, Gadkari said he has initiated several development works worth crores of rupees in a transparent manner with zero tolerance for corruption.

Gadkari said he had asked the chairman and trustees of NIT that there should be no corruption in awarding of contracts.

He stressed on transparent and corruption free development works.
