Press Trust of India New Delhi
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today asserted in the Lok Sabha that no ordinance factory would be privatised and allayed fears of job cut in such units.

The government has set up good ordinance factories over the last several decades and these have been involved in some essential and good ammunition manufacturing, he said while replying to a discussion on Supplementary Demands for Grant.

"No employee is going to be retrenched...The ordinance factories must concentrate on manufacturing ammunications and weapons. So, do we need ordinance factories which are doing tailoring job?...They should not be doing tailoring job," he said.

They should be doing ammunition manufacturing, he said.

"Factories are being maintained and none of them is being privatised. And please do not have this particular fear," he said.
