The CBI today told the special court here that the application filed by an activist seeking registration of FIR against former Maharashtra Chief Minister Shivajirao Patil-Nilangekar in the Adarsh Society case should be rejected.

"The investigations carried out by CBI in this case did not find any prosecutable evidence against Nilangekar," said the Central agency in a reply before the special CBI judge S C Dige.

It pointed out that a supplementary chargesheet was filed in March against 45 persons for involvement in benami transactions.

The agency said that the allegations made by Pravin Wategoankar, the applicant, did not make out any cognisable case against Nilangekar so as to warrant an FIR.

Wategoankar had contended that during Nilangekar's tenure as the Revenue Minister he allegedly granted certain approvals to the Society illegally.
