Despite heavy rainfall in Thane district in the last few days, there is no flood threat in any part under its jurisdiction, Collector Mahendra Kalyankar today said.

He appealed to the citizens not to believe in rumours about flooding in Thane district.

He was addressing a meeting of officials from various departments like revenue, irrigation, and disaster management.

At the meeting, the officials told the Collector there was no threat of flood in the district, which received heavy rainfall in the last few days.

The Collector took a review of the present situation and water level in dams, among other issues, during the meeting.

Bhatsa dam, a key water source, is filled up to 86 per cent of its capacity, officials said. The Irrigation Department has 11 minor irrigation dams and they all filled to capacity, but pose no flood threat, they said.
