The number of religious conversions after 2006 was less compared to earlier periods and whatever conversions took place were a result of inter-caste marriages and it was legally accepted, the chief minister said.
The government would ensure that religious conversions would not, in any way, affect the social fabric of the state, Chandy said while replying to a calling attention by K K Lathika (CPI-M) to the necessity to take measures to ensure that religious conversions do not turn into a social issue.
There was no cause for anxiety over religious conversion in the state, Chandy said, adding, instructions had been given to take steps if any complaint of forceful conversion was received.
