No formal complaint has been received about misuse of Community Radio stations but a few instances of violation of All India Radio (AIR) Code have been noticed and are being examined, the government said in Rajya Sabha today.

In a written reply, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said that 188 Community Radio stations are active in the country.

The minister said that so far, no formal complaint has been received by the ministry about the misuse of Community Radio stations.

"However, a few instances came to the notice of this ministry of violation of All India Radio Code, which are being examined," Rathore said.

To another question, he said there was no proposal under consideration to upgrade Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) to an international media university.
