No fresh swine flu case in HP, health min reviews situation

No fresh swine flu case was reported in Himachal Pradesh today and those infected with the H1N1 virus were being treated, state Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur said.

So far, 16 persons, including three deceased, have tested positive for swine flu in the state.

The minister visited the Indira Gandhi Medical College hospital and took stock of arrangements and preparedness to tackle the situation.

He also enquired about swine flu patients admitted in the hospital along with inspecting swine flu testing lab.

Thakur said that sufficient quantity of medicines and test-kits for swine flu were available in the state which have been made available throughout.
 

He said that so far 59 suspected cases of the H1N1 virus had been tested, of which 16 were found positive.

He said that one more isolation ward had been set up for swine flu patients at the IGMC and directions had been given to set-up one more testing machine at the earliest to ensure test report immediately.

He said that testing machine set up in Tanda Medical College had been made operational.

The health minister said that people were being sensitised by the health department about swine flu through various means of communication.

He said that special vigil was being made in major public and religious places.
