Terming the reports relating to a probe against state PWD minister Shivpal Yadav as "baseless", he said the SP had come to power recently and it was too early to say anything about the integrity of its ministers.

Inquiry was on against several ministers of the previous BSP government, the Lokayukta said.

On inclusion of the Chief Minister under the Ombudsman's ambit, he said it was up to the state government to take a decision in this regard.

On April 25, the Lokayukta had suggested to the state government that the post of the Chief Minister be brought under its purview.

The recommendation was turned down by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

For strengthening the Ombudsman mechanism, a report had been forwarded to the state government, Mehrotra said.

"We have prepared the report on basis of the rights given to Lokayukta in Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka."

Mehrotra denied requesting the state government for his personal security. "The new office is massive. I had asked for security for office personnel and not for myself."
