With many voicing their displeasure over the growing trend of actors crooning their songs, singer Shalmali Kholgade feels there is nothing wrong with it.

The "Baby Ko Bass Pasand Hai" hitmaker says it is great if celebrities wish to record songs in their own voice.

"We've had actors singing in films even earlier. We never questioned it then, we shouldn't now. If there's an actor who wishes to sing in the film he or she is acting in, that's great," Shalmali told PTI.

The "Balam Pichkari" crooner feels singers go beyond just voicing tracks in movies and have a career even as independent artists.

"Singers do get most of their recognition from film music, but that's not where it ends. We have an entire independent musical career we can build outside the film world."

Shalmali will be seen on MTV's music-travel show "Angles of Rock" along with three other singers, Jasmine Sandlas, Akasa Singh and Anusha Mani.

The singers will start their journey from Mumbai, pit stopping at various destinations meeting ordinary women, who have made extraordinary contributions to the society through their work, with the journey culminating at Wagah Border.

Shalmali decided to be a part of the show as it gave her an opportunity to show her talent as well as learn how to ride a bullet.

"This was a show in which I had the opportunity to showcase myself as a composer, travel and meet inspiring people along the way. More so, I had to be myself," she said.

"The most nerve-racking part of this show was learning to ride the Royal Enfield Bullet on the national highways, through the cold, specially in Haryana and Punjab," she added.

Shalmali, who made her debut with chartbuster song "Pareshaan" from "Ishaqzaade" went on to croon tracks like "Daaru Desi", "Shanivaar Rati" and "Lat Lag Gayee".

"Angels of Rock" will air on July 31.
