No let up in cold conditions in Punjab, Haryana

Mercury fell further in most parts of Punjab and Haryana, with Amritsar recording a minimum of 2.4 degrees Celsius, which was four notches below the season's average.

Ludhiana had a low of 5.7 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal, while the minimum in Patiala settled at 7 degrees Celsius.

The Union Territory of Chandigarh recorded a low of 8.1 degrees Celsius. Severe cold conditions also prevailed in Karnal in Haryana which recorded the minimum at 4.2 degrees C, four notches below normal, MeT department said.

Hisar was also cold at 5.7 degrees Celsius, down by five notches against normal.

Narnaul and Ambala recorded respective minimums at 6.5 deg C and 8.8 deg C.
