The maximum temperature in the region hovered between two to six degrees Celsius above normal, the Met office said.
The maximum at Amritsar was six notches above normal whereas Rohtak in Haryana sizzled at a high of 44.1 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal.
While Hisar braved a high of 44.5 degrees Celsius, the maximum at Patiala was 43.6 degrees Celsius, six notches above normal.
Among other places, Chandigarh recorded a high of 43.4 degrees Celsius, five notches above normal.
Ambala had a high of 42.9 degrees Celsius, five degrees above normal, and Bhiwani recorded 42.8 degrees Celsius.
The Met office has forecast dry weather in the region during the next 48 hours.
