The Punjab government today said it will not close any loss making cooperative sugar mill, rather all out efforts will be made to revive it.
It was assured by state cooperation minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa while chairing a meeting of the departmental officers regarding the present condition of the cooperative sugar mills, according to an official release.
Randhawa said the cooperative sugar mills running into losses will be transformed so that they can perform better.
The minister further said either the present machinery of the cooperative sugar mills will be modified or a new one be purchased.
Randhawa said that he will personally visit all the mills and hold brainstorming sessions with the stakeholders and farmers so as to bring improvement in their functioning.
He further said record of three years of those mills will also be inspected and strict action will be taken against guilty officers.
