Union Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today claimed that the Assam government did not provide any medical help to him after he, along with several others, sustained injuries when the dais at a BJP Yuva Morcha meeting collapsed in Dibrugarh.

"So far, even after 24 hours, no medical team of the state government came to see my condition," Sonowal, who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dibrugarh, told PTI over phone.

Sonowal, who received injuries in his back, will be flown to Delhi tomorrow for further treatment at AIIMS. "I am going to Delhi tomorrow for treatment at AIIMS," he said.

Sources said only one junior civil and a police officers visited the Union Minister after the accident but the administration has not sent any doctor or medical team to examine his injuries.

Sonowal, two BJP MPs - Kamakhya Prasad Tasa and Rameswar Teli - and several others were injured when the dais at a BJP Yuva Morcha public meeting collapsed yesterday.
