All elected representatives, including the chief minister, are workers of the public and would be punished for any carelessness that they commit, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje said today.

"Chief Minister, ministers, officials and all other public representatives are workers of the 'janta' (public)," said Raje.

"If any one of them commits carelessness, he or she would not be spared," she added.

The Chief Minister was talking to a gathering of villagers at Vidavayla in Srigangangar district of the Bikaner division here as part of her government's 'Sarkar apke dwar' (government at your doorstep) programme.

Under the programme, public hearings and Cabinet meetings are held at the divisional level to address people's grievances and take up development issues of the region.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by her Cabinet colleagues and top bureaucrats of the state.

"For the last 60 years, officers and ministers were working in their offices. For the first time, they all have come to meet the public and address their grievances.

"For the first time my government has proved that it is accountable to public at every step with the campaign of 'Sarkar apke dwar'," she said.

"Our mission is to raise Rajasthan's standard on the global map and move towards development and prosperity, for which people will have to support us," Raje said.

The Chief Minister is scheduled to tour all four districts of the Bikaner division between June 24 and 29.
