Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said that there would be no obstacle to development in the state's poverty stricken KBK region.

"Obstacles to development of the region will not be tolerated," the chief minister told a gathering at Kunduli after laying the foundation stone for a project to supply piped drinking water to Semiliguda, Nandapur and Lamataput blocks.

Patnaik also laid the foundation stone for the construction of a 100 seat girls hostel at a school at Sunabeda and a new high school at Kunduli.

The chief minister inaugurated a 100 seat hostel for tribal girls and a conference hall at the Ekalabya Model Residential School in Pungar and a 100 seat girls hostel at Hataguda of Nandapur block.

Hailing the success of women self-help groups, Patnaik said his government was committed to the development of women.

"Women SHG's are being provided with financial assistance and they are successfully carrying out various livelihood activities. The SHGs in the state will be strengthened more. Mission Sakthi has helped women to be economically self-reliant," he said.
