Punjab CEO today said that any outsider or political functionary, who was not enrolled as a voter in a Parliamentary constituency can't stay there on polling day, but the candidates have been exempted from the decision.
The state government has decided to suspend procurement operations for one day on April 30 poll day to facilitate people especially the rural populace to use their franchise, Chief Eelectoral Officer V K Singh said.
He said that due to inclement weather in last few days, the procurement operations have been little delayed and amidst possibility of prolonged procurement in state, this decision has been taken.

The CEO informed that after thorough analysis 20 purely urban Assembly constituencies have been identified, where poll percentage was around 20 per cent less in comparison of remaining state in last assembly constituencies.
He said these constituencies include Amritsar North, Amritsar West, Amritsar Central, Amritsar East and Amritsar South, Jalandhar West, Jalandhar Central, Jalandhar North and Jalandhar Cantt, SAS Nagar, Ludhiana East, Atam Nagar, Gill, Ludhiana South, Ludhiana Central, Ludhiana West, Ludhiana North, Ferozepur Urban, Bathinda Urban and Patiala.
Singh said a unique sms service 'Voter Queue Information Service' was being launched to inform voters about the queue status and this was aimed to check the trend of urban apathy.
He said that each of total 22,022 polling booths would be covered by either micro observer or web casting or videography or still photography or para military forces.
B Purushartha, Additional CEO said the final number of electorate in the state was 1,95,27,114.
He said till date 652 complaints have been received out of which 614 have been verified and 38 were pending, adding that 2,948 FIRs have already been registered.
