One film old actor Girish Kumar, the son of TIPS honcho Kumar Taurani, is not so keen on following his father's footsteps as he is currently focusing on his acting career.

The 24-year-old actor, who made his Bollywood debut with Prabhu Deva's 'Ramaiya Vastavaiya', said he may take up production work in near future.

"Taking up production activity (in TIPS) at present is too early. Let me enjoy being an actor for a while. My father and uncle are doing a pretty good job. Also, I am the first creative person of my family, so my current focus is on acting," Girish told PTI in an interview.

His father's company might have given him a launchpad, but he wants to take up projects which are outside of TIPS.

"I am happy that I have got some offers outside of TIPS, which is the area of my focus. I want to move outside of the banner and create my own identity," he said.

"With every film and every decision of an actor it is hard to make an identity of his own. In every film you have to try and prove yourself. I think many superstars have gone through this. So its natural and it takes time to create it," he added.

The actor, who played an NRI opposite Shruti Haasan in 'Ramaiya Vastavaiya', went through a rigorous training to prepare for his role as he felt that his contemporaries had raised the bar of their debut performances.

"Nowadays, if you see all the actors, young generation and even the older ones, people expect quality work from them. My contemporaries and the coming generation have raised the benchmark very high. So, as an actor it requires you to give a very confident performance in your debut film," he added.

Girish is currently reading couple of scripts and contemplating on finalising some of them.

Asked which actor Girish would want to work with, he said, "I would want to work with Amitabh Bachchan because he is such a legend and I hope I can pick up something from him. He has so much experience of cinema, and he is one person who can share so much. So learning anything from him would be an experience in itself," he said.

The newbie actor recently participated in a Peace March organized by Sadhu Vaswani Misison in Pune.
