There is no proposal to mention the caste of children in birth certificate, Lok Sabha was informed today.
Minister of State for Home Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary, however, said entries in birth and death registers are public documents and are admissible as evidence under Section 35 of the Indian Evidence Act 1872.
But, these entries are only conclusive evidence of the fact of birth or death as the case may be.
