Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today refuted opposition BJP's allegations that the government is wreaking political vendetta on opponents and claimed that the crime rate in Himachal Pradesh has come down in the last two years.
Replying to a discussion on demands for police and allied organisations, the Chief Minister said nobody is being victimised on political grounds.
"Rather I have been a victim of political vendetta during the previous BJP regime but I don't want to repeat that," he said.
Singh said the law and order situation was under control and the crime graph had come down during the past two years.
He said that against 18,475 cases registered in 2011 and 15,937 cases in 2012, the number of registered cases in 2013 was 15,733 and 17,112 in 2014.
Referring to clashes at the BJP office on January 29, Singh said an investigation is on and action would be taken against the guilty.
He claimed that the video footage of the incident showed that the Youth Congress activists had gone there for protest against the land acquisition ordinance of the NDA government and the youth wing president had informed the Leader of the Opposition P K Dhumal about the protest.
Singh said he was sorry for the person who got injured in the incident "but the footage shows that the person who was injured had also indulged in stone pelting."
Earlier, BJP members ID Dhiman, Ravinder Singh Ravi, Suresh Bhardwaj and Rikhi Ram Kaundal alleged that the government was using the Police department to settle score with the political rivals.
They alleged that the crime graph was going up and the Police were unable to trace the culprits in many cases.
The House passed the demands amounting Rs 831.93 crore, and all the cut motions moved by the opposition BJP were rejected.
