NCP General Secretary Tariq Anwar today ruled out his party helping BJP form government in Maharashtra and said there was no decision to side with Shiv Sena either.

"The question of helping BJP to form government in Maharashtra does not arise," Anwar told reporters here.

"We have ideological differences with communal parties," he said.

The NCP leader said his party has made it clear that it could forge an alliance or reach a political agreement with secular parties.

On siding with Shiv Sena, he said no decision has been taken in this regard so far.

Anwar said if his party loses the election, the biggest reason for that would be the break-up of alliance between NCP and Congress which harmed both the parties.

He said if exit poll was to be believed, defeat of non-BJP parties would be due to division of votes among them.

"It was seen during general election that BJP with only 31 per cent vote succeded in forming government while other parties with massive 69 per cent votes sat in the opposition," he said.

"This can be repeated in Maharashtra and Haryana too," Anwar said.

Making a scathing attack at BJP government at the Centre, the NCP leader said "the central government is deliberately adopting step-motherly approach towards Bihar because it has an opposition government."

Questioning the silence of Narendra Modi government over giving special status to Bihar which he had promised during election campaign, he said even the money alloted by the previous UPA government as special package has also not reached the state.
