Haryana power utilities today claimed no power shortage in the state despite contracted power supply from Adani Power and other sources.

"Despite discontinuation of supply of power to Haryana by Adani Power Ltd and a part of the contracted 400 MW power by Coastal Gujarat Power Ltd (CGPL), there is no shortage of power in the state owing to better generation at state's own plants and other arrangements," said an official spokesman of Haryana Discoms in a release.

CGPL is supplying 220 MW power Haryana daily against the contracted 400 MW.

Haryana government had already threatened to take legal action against Adani Power (APL) by charging it with the "breaching terms" of power purchase contract.

The Haryana Government had accused APL of disconnecting 1,424 MW of contracted power to the state "arbitrarily" and with "mala fide intention" on August 27.

Haryana had contracted 1,424 MW of power from APL in 2007 from its power project located at Mundra in Gujarat.

Haryana Power Minister Harmohinder Singh Chattha yesterday sought intervention of Union Minister of State for Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal to resolve the issue of suspension of power supply to Haryana by Adani Power.

Power utilities today claimed to have made adequate arrangements of up to 10,625 MW of power supply during June to September this year to meet the requirement of power consumers.

"These include power generation by state's own power plants, share in Central/other generating projects, banking arrangements, power purchase agreements and long term arrangements," it said.

Spokesman said the state is expecting additional power from Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Station at Jhajjar and Gas based plant in Faridabad.

He further stated that the peak demand of electricity is about 7,500 MW and discoms are supplying power as per schedule and even more than the schedule as per requirement.

Referring to availability of coal in the state thermal plants, the spokesman said the sufficient coal stock is available to run plants for ten days.
