No project successful without participation of women: Yadav

Union Minister of State for Rural Development Ram Kripal Yadav today said no project can be successful without participation of women.

"No project can be successful without the participation of women. The ongoing central programme - Swachch Shakti - across the country is being successful because of the participation of women.

"This programme has been completely successful in Jharkhand," an official release quoting Yadav said.

Addressing the 'Swachch Shakti Week' programme here, Yadav said the percentage of sanitation in 2012/13 was 38.76 per cent, which had increased to 42.01 per cent in 2014/15 and now was at 61.44 per cent.
 

He gave credit to women for the success and urged similar participation in future.

Yadav said training was being imparted to officials of rural development and health department across the country, the release said.

Praising the Jharkhand government, the Minister said the state has set the year 2018 to make it Swachch (clean).

A total 351.53 lakh toilets have been built from the beginning of the campaign till now, the release said.

Under the 'Namami Gange' project, the government would make villages along the banks of River Ganga open defecation free by March 31, 2017, the minister said.

Jharkhand Rural Development Minister C P Singh also spoke on the occasion.
