There is no proposal to increase the age of retirement of central government employees from existing 60 to 62 years, the government said today.
"No," said Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, and in Prime Minister's Office, in a written reply in Lok Sabha when asked whether there is any proposal under consideration of the government to raise the retirement age.
There are about 50 lakh central government employees working in various departments across the country.
The Centre had in 1998 raised the retirement age of its employees to 60 from 58 years.
