There is no proposal currently under discussion with the US government for a comprehensive free trade agreement with India, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
In a written reply to a question, Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh also said that India and the US have established the defence technology and trade initiative (DTTI) for co-development and co-production of unique and exceptional technologies of mutual interest.
Both sides agreed to re-focus and re-energise the DTTI as a mechanism to promote technology sharing, as well as co-development and co-production efforts, in the meeting last September during the visit of US Secretary of Defence James Mattis, Singh said.
